N64 Mario Raceway Shortcut 3

Just use Mushrooms to cut off the corners. Then do a flip off of the end of the pipe.

N64 Mario Raceway Shortcut 2

It's possible to take this one using only one Mushroom, but if you do it with one it usually ends before you get to the jump.

N64 Mario Raceway Shortcut 1

This is the first shortcut on N64 Mario Circuit. Pretty easy to take, but you might land in the grass if you aren't aimed correctly.

SNES Ghost Valley Shortcut

This shortcut can easily be done with out a Mushroom, but you can't jump over the edge you have to go more straight across. We showed it here with a Mushroom to show the advantage of having a Mushroom while taking the shortcut.

Dry Dry Ruins Hardest Shortcut

This shortcut is harder to take than the other shortcuts on this track. You need a Gold Mushroom, Star, or Mega Mushroom to take it. Be careful because they can end before you get to the end of the shortcut. Watch out for cactuses.

Dry Dry Ruins Glitchy Trick

We forgot to upload some more Dry Dry Ruins videos to here they are. Watch the top screen. In this one, you basically just go off the blue boost at the right angle to stick to the wall and take the turn extremely tight. It's kind of hard to do every time, but it's low risk if you mess up.

Wii Cups Compilation

So we made a compilation of the shortcuts we have done so far and put them in one video for you all to enjoy.

Maple Treeway Shortcut 2

All you need to do is go on the right toward the end of the track to find the boost pads and a jump. It's much faster than going over the tree roots in the middle.

Maple Treeway Shortcut 1

Here is an easy shorcut right at the start of the race.

Koopa Cape Shortcut 5

Here is one final spot to use that mushroom. Be careful not to fall down the waterfall!

Moonview Highway Shortcut

This shortcut is not very good. I'm pretty sure it is slower than using your Mushroom right on the road. It is easy to mess up too. I do not suggest using it at all.

Koopa Cape 3 and 4

Here are two more great spots to use your mushrooms.

Rainbow Road Shortcuts

This video shows a couple shortcuts to do on Rainbow Road. It's challenging, but rewarding to do all of it. Depending on your level of play, you might only want to take part of the shortcuts, not all of it. Before you go over the big holes, you have to use a Mushroom and do a flip. To cut the turn short after that, aim in the right direction and use a Mushroom.

Koopa Cape Shortcut 1 and 2

If you get a mushroom right away and take the first shortcut it will give you a great lead. The second one is not bad either.

Grumble Volcano Shortcut

This is one of the best shortcuts in the game, but is a little harder. Caution, this only works on the first 2 laps because the mountain is not there on the third.

Dry Dry Ruins Shortcut 4

This is the final shortcut on Dry Dry Ruins and can help win the race right at the end.

Dry Dry Ruins Shortcut 3

Here is another easy path to take right throught the sand with a mushroom.

Dry Dry Ruins Shortcut 2

This one is nice because you don't have to spent the time going up the blue jumps.

Dry Dry Ruins Shortcut 1

This shortcut is pretty easy to take and really helpful.

Daisy Circuit Shortcut 2

This allows you to take the turn extra tight and you can finish the race on the left side of the pole!

Daisy Circuit Shortcut 1

This is a great shortcut. In a normal race there is a item box at the top of the stairs. Sometimes I just use my drift boost to go up the stairs, but it still slows me down a little wihtout mushroom.

Bowser Castle Shortcut

This is the fastest path on this part of the course. A star or gold mushroom are also good on this shortcut, but only one mushroom is needed.

Coconut Mall Jump

The little jump taken by player 2 is a lot longer. You should already have an Item box from the previous jump so this is totally pointless to take.

Coconut Mall Faster Path

This video is just an example of the fastest path to take (unless you take the shortcut) at the beginning of Coconut Mall. After going up the first staircases, go down the middle one. This lets you take a tighter turn.

Coconut Mall Boost + Drift

There are boosts on the sides of the track in this spot in Coconut Mall. There is one on each side, but the one on the right is better. You get an item box, and it is a good spot to drift too.

DK Summit Blue Boosts

This video just shows how much faster it is to go up and down with as little air possible on one side than it is to drive back and forth going higher off the blue jumps.

DK Summit Shortcuts

The first trick is a little harder. When you get out of the cannon, drift to the left and go off the blue boost. This is the tightest way you can take that turn, and you get a boost from landing and a boost from your drift. The next shortcut is easy, just use a Mushroom to go through the snow. The third one is in between. Basically just drive off the edge and land on the other side of the track. This last one is very important to know because if you use it agaisnt people who don't know it online, you will have a huge advantage.

Coconut Mall Shortcut 2

Just watch the top of the screen. This one is a little longer so one mushroom won't be enough. It is also a little harder to stay on the track.

Wario's Gold Mine Shortcut

This shortcut is easy, but you might fall if you hit a mine cart.

Wario's Gold Mine Drift Trick

Drift around the corner, then flip off the edge. It's very fast, but you have to be good at drifting.

Coconut Mall Shortcut 1

Take this shortcut to cut off the corner. Be sure to use a mushroom, mega mushroom, gold mushroom or star so you won't slow down.

Mario Circuit Jump

Use a Mushroom to get to the jump on Mario Circuit. Then use another one to cut the corner short. If you only have one, it cutting the corner short is a better shortcut.

Everyone Can Choose The Same Character

Here is how you do it. Everyone selects the character they want, take turns. Then have player 1 go back, and then forward again. Everyone will apear on the last character they select. In this video, four players all choose Funky Kong.

Mushroom Gorge Hard Shortcut

This is one the hardest shortcuts in the game. If you want to use it online, you have to practice it a ton. You press jump after using your Mushroom right before you go over the edge of the cliff. You must time it perfectly.

Mushroom Gorge Easy Shortcut

Just use a Mushroom and blast through the grass onto the giant mushrooms. You miss the item boxes, but it is a little quicker.

Moo Moo Meadows Blue Jump

From my experience, it is faster to not go off the blue jump on Moo Moo Meadows than to go off of it, even if you do a trick. It's a more direct path. We attempted to show this in this video. Try it out for yourself in a time trial agaisnt your own ghost if you don't believe us.

Moo Moo Meadows Shortcut

This shortcut is extremely easy, and very effective. Just use one Mushroom to go through part of it, or use 2 Mushrooms, a Star, a Gold Mushroom, or a Mega Mushroom to go all the way.

Luigi Circuit Tight Turn Mushroom Shortcut

All you need for this shortcut is one Mushroom, but if you mess up, the results can be devastating. It is much safer to take this shortcut with a Mega Mushroom, Gold Mushroom, or a Star. With one Gold Mushroom, this shortcut can easily bring you into first from even 10-12th place.

Luigi Circuit Jump Shortcut

This simple shortcut only requires a regular Mushroom, but it can also be done with a star, Mega Mushroom, or Gold Mushroom. It's not too useful, and you miss the item boxes when you take it. However, for beginners, this shortcut is one of the easiest to take.

Character Stats

Different characters offer different stat bonuses. This useful chart shows which characters increase which stat. These stats were discovered by a Japanese MK enthusiast known as Mander.

Avoiding POW blocks can be an extremely useful technique. You will still lose your items, but you won't lose any speed. To avoid one, simply press the wheelie button or pull the Wii Wheel up when the POW is about to hit. They even give you some warning to get ready for it.

Blue boost

Do not go on the blue boost that go around the edge of the track. They send you flying up high into the air, and then give you a boost when you land. If you go too high, it would have been faster to stay on the ground. Usually these boost are out of the way and force you to take a wider turn, so it is faster to stay on the ground and take a tight turn.

This picture is on Maple Treeway, and is also an example of what not to do if you want a faster time.

Starting boost

To get a fast boost at the beginning of the race press the go button right after 2 appears on the count down. Be careful not to do it to early or you will not go right away.

Advanced Starts, Bikes Only

When you start the race, everyone faces straight ahead. Don't you wish you could already be pointing in the right direction? Well you can, if you're on a bike. Suppose you want to face a little to the right. Hold right on the control pad, or tilt the Wii wheel right. Then do a wheelie. This will point you in the desired direction. Do it again to point even farther right. Don't forget to hold A or 2 at the appriopriate time for the boost. If you want to face really far right, do this: Hold right, then do a wheelie and while your wheel is in the air, quickly move the joystick to the left and then back to the right. If you do this correctly, your bike will end up pointed extremely far to the right. This can be really usefull if your goal is to get to the item boxes first and quickly take the lead.

Recovery Boost

After you fall off the course, Lakitu (the guy in the cloud) drops you back onto the course. If you press A or 2 right when you hit the ground, you get a boost. This brings you right back up to speed.

Items and button mashing

After getting an item box, press the item button rapidly to select the item faster. This will allow you to use your item faster.

Videos comming soon

We are going to post videos soon to show the latest tips, tricks, and shortcuts.

Drifting and Mini-Turbo

You can only get mini-turbos when you are on manual control. if you drift long enough, blue sparks will fly from your wheels. Hold the drift even longer to get red sparks, but only if you are in a cart. Once you get blue or red sparks, release the drifting button (B if using Wii Wheel, R if using Gamecube controller) and you will get a small boost.

Wheelies 2

While doing a wheelie, don't adjust or try to turn. That will slow you down much more than just going straight. It's better to go straight and go a little out of your way than it is to turn, go slower, and take the most direct path. Also, whenever you get hit by an item, do a wheelie right away to accelerate faster. But still watch out for people running into you.

Wheelies

Pull the wheel up to do a wheelie with the Wii Wheel. Then press B to get out of it, or jerk the wheel back down. Or if you are using a gamecube controller, press the control pad to do one, and then press R to get out of it. Use wheelies on long straightaways, but get out of it right away if another car or bike approaches. If you get hit while you are doing a wheelie, you slow way down. You go faster while doing a wheelie, but you have more trouble turning.

Slipstream

Have you ever been driving along and suddenly get a small boost? This is called slipstreaming. Whenever you follow someone right behind them, blue and green lines appear on the screen. If you can keep those lines around long enough, you will get a boost. This is especially useful at the start of the race and on long straitaways.

Tips coming soon

It won't be long before this blog gets updated with tips for everyone from the most basic casual gamer to the hardcore Mario Kart experts.
